Cyberbullying is when a child, teen or a person is tormented, harassed, threatened, embarrassed or targeted by another child, teen or person using technology such as internet, mobile phone and various other technologies. Cyberbullying is nothing but the use of technology to bully other people. Coping with it can be difficult because it can happen at any time of the day.

Being the victim of cyber bullying can put an unnecessary stress on a child or teenager. With the ever increasing technological advancements, cyber bullying is reaching to the whole new level. So, as a parent, it becomes necessary for you to protect your child from cyber bullying.

If your child is victim of cyber bullying, you can help them by encouraging to do some things against cyber bullying. Tell them to save any bullying emails, images or text messages they receive.  Make a note of date and time when the images and messages were sent, along with the details about the sender.

You should report the instances of cyber bullying to internet service providers and mobile phone companies who can trace the cyber bullies. Try to make sure that the school of your child is aware of what is happening to the students as well as report serious bullying, such as threats of a sexual or physical nature, to the police.

If you think that your child should get justice and the cyber bully must be punished, there are certain judicial laws available to teach him a lesson. There are number of laws for educational institutes that harbour the cyber bullies. These institutes msut take serious action against those found guilty in such cases.

In terms of dealing with your child and to help him or her get out of the effect that the cyber bully has left on him, you can sought help from a professional. Try to console them that they are not alone and there are many children that have been subjected to such horrendous stuff.

However, the cyber bullies need to be taught the lesson which can reduce the incidence of such behavior.
